It’s not very hard to start a blog.
With the right hosting package, you can literally have a brand new blog up in about 2 minutes.
What’s even easier than that is typing something up and publishing it to your blog.
Really, there are no set-in-stone guidelines that you have to follow.
You are the ruler of your domain (no pun intended).
So, there’s nothing wrong with whipping up a 1,000 word pile of crap and calling it a blog post.
Nothing at all.
It’s probably not best practice, but remember that you have every right to do so.
When Things Get Real
Most of you have higher standards than that, though.
You are concerned with your future success as a blogger and you don’t want to throw it away by building a reputation for doing low quality work.
You take pride in your creation and for as long as you have positive, beginner’s momentum, you keep pumping out content.
But then, there comes a time period much like a black hole, where new bloggers get sucked in never to be seen again.
It comes right after the momentum has died down and the reality of their true existence in the blogosphere becomes evident.
Your already small amount of traffic dwindles down to almost nothing.
You start to run out of ideas for what to write about.
Ultimately, you wonder if blogging is really worth it. You know… now that it actually takes real effort.
What do you do?
Unfortunately, I cannot give you a secret formula that will help you make it through these times.
If the formula exists, it’s already in you.
I just want to show you when it’s time to pull it out and put it to use.
When you don’t know what to write anymore, it’s time.
When you start to feel like writing is becoming a chore, it’s time.
When you go a day or two without even visiting your own blog (just to admire it), it’s time.
This formula is more like a mindset, to be honest.
It’s not one that you will need to have all the time. It’s a special mindset that’s reserved for special situations like this one.
The purpose of this mindset is be the push you need when you have absolutely no other reason to push.
In a way, it’s much like Nike’s slogan, “Just Do It.”
No questions ask. No explanation needed.
Just do it.
I can’t tell you why you should do it… especially if you don’t even know.
I can’t tell you how to do it, especially if you’ve already shown that you don’t have a rhyme or reason for doing it in the first place.
All I can tell you is that you have a blog.
You have a blog and you are in complete control of how content gets published to it.
Just Do It
So, when the happy days are over and things aren’t fun anymore…
When the possibility of your blog never becoming anything more than an abandoned website becomes more powerful than your thoughts of unlimited success…
When you start to wonder who would miss you anyway…
That’s when it’s time to just do it.
Log into your dashboard.
Open up that “wissy wig” (What You See Is What You Get) editor.
Start writing.
That’s what I just did…
