Best of Success On My Mind – 2011

New Years Eve 2012Happy new year!

I hope everyone is as excited as I am about the coming of a new year. It’s a blank canvas, so to speak, for you to rewrite the rules of success and internet entrepreneurship.

2012 will be a huge year for SuccessOnMyMind.com as I have so many things planned to help this site grow.

For now, let’s review the best of 2011 just in case you happened to miss something.

The best of 2011

1. The Success Proclamation

The Success Proclamation is a basically a visual representation of what it means to be success-oriented and self-confident. I created the Success Proclamation to serve as a reminder of what success is inevitable for you.

The Success Proclamation can be downloaded and saved to your computer as well as purchased in full poster size and hung up on your wall at home. Enjoy!

2. 7 Key Design Flaws to Avoid for New Bloggers

This was really one of my first stand-out posts on SuccessOnMyMind.com. It’s healthy guide on avoiding key design mistakes that a lot of new bloggers make.

As you would assume, it’s all a matter of opinion and every blog is different. So, some of the guidance in this article only pertains to certain blogs. Also, I have even changed this very blog to display certain things that I was against at the time of writing the article.

Either way, the advice is helpful when put into perspective. Take a look at each tip and the examples to go along with them.

3. Derek Halpern’s “No Search Form” Post on Social Triggers

What can I say about this one? This was probably the first time that I worked up the nerve to really take a stand on what I believe.

This post is not so much about my disagreement with Derek Halpern about the need for search forms on blogs, but more about the people who are willing to follow what someone else says without even doing any testing or research themselves.

Derek is a smart guy but that doesn’t mean I have to agree with him on everything. I touched on that in this article.

4. Starting a Blog? 60+ Resources New Bloggers Must Read

Over the years, I’ve started blogging and quit blogging many times. Why? I don’t know. That’s beside the point, though.

One thing I noticed is that every time I came back to the blogosphere, I would have to learn things all over again. Somehow, I always ended up on the same outstanding articles that I had already seen a few years before. That’s how I knew the content was good.

I decided to make life easier on new bloggers by bringing all of that content to one spot. The list is massive and broken down into key areas that lead you from brand new blogger to internet entrepreneur.

5. How You Can Get More Traffic by Using Scribd for FREE

Boy was I excited about this one when I wrote it! Scribd is huge social reading and publishing company that allows you to share, find, and publish original content on the web.

Scribd accounts are easy to set up and extremely flexible. In this article, I talked about how to turn your popular blog posts into documents and upload them to Scribd for more exposure. There’s even a pretty cool feature for embedding Scribd content on your blog.

Be sure to check this one out.

6. Risk-Avoiding, Self-Proclaiming, Non-Innovative, 21st Century Wishful Thinkers

This article was full of emotion and passion. Ultimately, I was disgusted with myself for the lack of action I had been taking while calling myself an internet entrepreneur.

It takes more than typing up a few words on a blog post to call yourself an entrepreneur. I did it anyway. This particular day, though, I finally realized that I was satisfied with thinking big but not actually doing big.

I decided to make a change, but not before publicly calling myself out. You might enjoy this one.

7. How to Stay on the Road to Success and Never Digress… Ever

Chasing success is nothing new to me. I’ve half-assed it plenty of times in the past. Why didn’t I give it my full efforts? Because it’s very difficult. That’s why.

However, I’ve learned how to hang in there this time around and I decided to share with you what I’ve learned.

In order to make it big in whatever it is that you’re trying to do, it’s going to take some intense dedication. If not, your goals aren’t big enough. Read this article to learn what it takes to stay on the road to success and never give up.

8. A Complete Guide to Understanding the Power of Thesis WordPress Theme

Thesis Theme Framework for WordPress is arguably the best WordPress theme in the land. Created by Chris Pearson, Thesis is designed for speed and Search Engine Optimization “right out of the box.”

Once installed, administrative capabilities are top-of-the-line and design is made so simple that a brand new blogger can make a gorgeous blog.

The proof is in the pudding with this one. Take a look at this article to see the features for yourself.

9. 13 Reasons Why I Hate Your Blog

This is a series I created to help point out some common blogging mistakes I see around the blogosphere.

By no means am I a blogging expert. However, with my years of experience and all of the things that I have learned, I feel confident enough to know what types of things are bad for bloggers.

In this series, I attempt to point out some of these bad habits. Not only that, I provide alternatives so that your blog can maintain its functionality without turning readers off. Take a look at the entire series and subscribe to catch future updates as they happen.

10. Sick and Tired of Blogging: A Blogger’s Frustration Uncensored

Quite possibly the most frustrating day in all of my time blogging; I used this article to vent and teach at the same time.

I was in desperate need of a pep-talk that I ended up having to give myself. I chose to do it publicly because I was at that critical point where you just want to quit blogging. Had I not written out my frustrations, I probably wouldn’t be here making a recap of 2011 right now.

For those new to blogging, I hope that you too make it through the rough days to keep publishing content. Don’t ever become discouraged because it seems like no one is listening. Your time will come… if you want it to.
