So many times in the past, I've started a blog only to give up before it actually reached its full potential. I know what it's like. I also know how to overcome those new blogger obstacles. Let me help you make it through those first 6 months of blogging hell.

Keep BloggingIt’s not very hard to start a blog.

With the right hosting package, you can literally have a brand new blog up in about 2 minutes.

What’s even easier than that is typing something up and publishing it to your blog.

Really, there are no set-in-stone guidelines that you have to follow.

You are the ruler of your domain (no pun intended).

So, there’s nothing wrong with whipping up a 1,000 word pile of crap and calling it a blog post.

Nothing at all.

It’s probably not best practice, but remember that you have every right to do so.

New Bloggers Can’t Be Statistics Junkies

i-goneSo you want more traffic, huh?

Don’t we all.

As new bloggers, we are so obsessed with traffic that we find ourselves staring at the numbers all day long.

Seriously… what is going to change from 2pm to 2:15pm in Google Analytics?

Not enough to worry about.

A Few Words for the Novice Blogger

Just Be YourselfI applaud you.

Having a voice is a big deal these days.

Many people are scared to speak their minds for fear of ruffling the feathers of their environment.

Either that, or they have such a strong desire to fit in that they suppress their own personality to make room for the cookie-cutter template of modern society.

But that’s not you.

You’ve chosen to have a voice displayed through the words on your new blog. Again, I applaud you for that.

13 Reasons Why I Hate Your Blog (Part 5)

Why I Hate Your Blog - Reason 5I’m at it again.

Each time I write one of these posts, I’m a completely different blogger from the last one.

What Does a Novice Blogger Do Differently in 2012?

I’ve been asking myself this question over and over again for the last few weeks.

What do I do different in 2012 now that I have a little bit of content?

What should my goals be?

Am I still a beginner or is it time to make big moves?

As you all know, the first few months of blogging can be pretty tough. It’s like you’re writing to yourself.

Many times before, I’ve quit during those months, never to see my past blogs take off like I once knew they would.

Do You Create Content That Excites People?

First, let me explain to you now that this will not be a guide for creating exciting content.

There are plenty of guides in the blogosphere for that.

I don’t want to sound like everyone else and tell you to be yourself, write like you talk, and all of that nonsense.

Instead, I look to raise awareness with this article and you can choose your own path for fixing the “problem” if you feel that you have one.

Social Triggers - No Search FormI’ve been dying to write about this for the last 24 hours. I’m going for it.

Derek Halpern of SocialTriggers.com has released an article that has the blogosphere going nuts. You’ve either commented on the post, read it and formulated your own opinion, or you’re about  to read it now.

I read it yesterday when it was first published and I didn’t realize how big of a deal it would be.

I was one of the first 15 people or so to leave a comment and it now has 130 comments and counting only a day later.
